Kindergarten Art "Seasons of Life"

The kindergartners have started a unit studying the 4 seasons. In art, we discussed how God intricately designed the land to look and feel differently throughout each season. Not only with the weather, but also through each season of life as we grow and change as Christians.  We discussed the types of natural colors and weather patterns we typically see within each of the 4 (weather related) seasons. Then, students chose and mixed acrylic paint to represent colors for each season.  Mrs. Roche and Mrs. Fisher's class worked collectively on Fall and Winter. Spring was completed by Mrs. Johnsen's class and Summer was completed by Mrs. Roche's class.

1st Grade Art "God's Fingerprints Are Everywhere"

The first grade classes have been studying the order in which God created the heavens and the earth.  In art, we have been investigating God's creations with a microscopic eye; drawing our attention to His amazing creation of light, line, color hues, layering, blending, shading, the use of pattern, and immaculate design to form even the smallest of bugs to the tallest of mountains.  His fingerprints are everywhere.

Students used water color paints to blend hues of green and blue for the background scenery to depict light. The leaves on the trees are student finger prints.

2nd Grade Art "One Nation Under God"

Faith's 2nd grade classes have been studying the birth of America and what it truly means to live in "land of the free and the home of the brave".  When brainstorming ideas for projects we could create collectively, many students wanted to make an American flag to show our love for our country and all those who have served to protect it.  Other students liked the idea of the flag, but wanted to create a piece to remind us to "Love God and Love Others." We combined both ideas creating a flag that does both.  "One Nation Under God" honors those who have served and reminds us to always show our love for our country and our freedom.

To start this project, the children helped Mrs. Huff add color to the background of Popsicle sticks with red, white, and blue acrylic paint. Once dry, students were invited to decorate their sticks with red, white, and blue sharpies and paint pens to create patterns and include words we think of when we think of what it means to be an American.

3rd Grade Art "Pieces of Home"

The students in 3rd grade chose to create a collective collage. When deciding what their subject would be, students quickly agreed piecing together a Colorado State flag would be a fun and meaningful choice. Students searched through a large variety of magazines and hand selected various hues of red, white, blue, and yellow to form each section of our state's flag. Once the colors were gathered, we began cutting, piecing, and carefully gluing each section together.  If you look closely, you will find a snowflake, mountain and water scenes, flowers, and depictions of sunshine.  All perfect representations of how God has blessed our beautiful state.

4th Grade Art "God's Amazing Glory"

Have you ever looked up what different colors mean in the Bible? Ask a 4th or 5th grade Faith student.  They should be able to explain:

  • Yellow: Faith and Glory of God, anointing, joy
  • Amber: Glory of God, judgement upon sin and endurance.
  • Orange means: Fire of God, deliverance, passionate praise
  • Scarlet: Royalty, fine linen for tabernacle
  • Red: Blood of Jesus, love of God, blood of the lamb, atonement, salvation
  • Blue: Holy Spirit, heaven, authority
  • Purple: Priesthood, kingship, royalty, mediator, wealth
  • Wine: New birth, multiply, overflow
  • Sapphire: Law, commandments, grace, Holy Spirit, divine revelation
  • Green: Praise, growth, prosperity, new beginning, flourishing, restoration

Originally, this project was going to be solely for 4th grade.  However, once the 5th grade students saw it coming together and heard about the meaning behind the use of color, they asked to create one too!  Who am I to deny creative enthusiasm?!? The students decided upon this piece because it is meant to remind all who see it of the unending, ever changing gifts God brings through growth and change. Students used water colors and water color paper to meticulously mix hues of color with various values and tones.  As you observe each of the beautiful colors created in these pieces, take a moment to remember how God has blessed us with so many different and incredible gifts.

This piece can be hung horizontally or vertically. Measures: 26" x 38"
